TO THE SEMI-FINALS!

Darryl Hitchman, Justin Haynes and Rex Albrecht arrived Wednesday afternoon to test on Thursday, however, the weather was so cold at the Thunder Valley Raceway in Noble, Oklahoma, that the testing session was canceled.

Cindy, Roxy and Scooter Hitchman arrived Thursday afternoon and Kevin Wendland and Shelly Schubert came up Friday afternoon to round off the team of the divisional race.

The car dropped a cylinder at 1.03 second during the first qualifying pass however the Darryl pulled down a 5.550@259.59 which put the team in the second position.

Saturday, the sun was out and it was warming up quickly. Darryl did some minor changes with the cylinder that had dropped, however the car went slower running a 5.631@261.55. This put the team in the sixth position.  Third and final qualifying the car ran even slower 5.753@260.41 It was not looking good for the good guys.

Darryl decided to change the tune up putting in different pistons, different heads and different clutch.

It worked. Darryl was matched up against the number three qualifier Malcom Wahle who had run a 5.383@267.14. Malcom left with a .067 reaction time to Darryl’s .079 but Darryl pulled out a 5.496@258.17 to Malcom’s 6.303@162.71.  The team was ecstatic!

With only one hour to next round the team worked rather quickly to get ready but get ready they did

Darryl was up against Brandon Lewis who had run a 5.48@270 in the first round. This gave him lane choice. He had qualified with a 5.322@267.85 and had run a 5.38@268 in qualifying. The weather was changing with clouds coming in with a forecast of rain.

Lewis pulled out the quickest ET of the race putting down a 5.27@272 and putting an end to the day of racing for the Hitchman Racing team. Darryl had slowed to a 5.96@204. Justin, Darryl, Cindy, Scooter and Roxy planned on heading out West to Las Vegas on Monday.
