The rain left before the start of the O’Reilly Super Start Batteries NHRA Fall Nationals held at the Texas Motorplex in Ennis, Texas. Cindy
and Darryl Hitchman, Scooter and Roxy Hitchman, Rex Albrecht, Justin Haynes, Kevin Wendland, Tera Wendland, and Shelly Schubert
rounded out the team for the weekend.
Darryl pulled out a 5.549@262.59 for the first qualifying pass but welded a spark plug into the head and it had to be changed. The
team did some changes in compression, clutch and fuel and ran a 5.408@271.08. Great mile per hour! The third and final qualifying
pass was a 5.473@266.00.
The team ended up in the number eleven position and
up against Courtney Force.
The team was ready, Darryl was ready and the car
was ready for a first round win. Darryl left with a .069 reaction time to Courtney’s .210 which put Darryl out front
and the team was ready for the win light. Unfortunately a cylinder dropped for a split second but that was what it took to
slow the car enough for Courtney to take the win right at the light. The team was disappointed however they were feeling good
about the performance of the car considering the last few races.
